Pension Calatrava

We keep coming back because the room works well for somewhere to sleep. It’s clean, has air conditioning and a hot shower. The road outside is noisy, so I always bring earplugs, though that isn’t the hotel’s fault. It’s a great spot for getting to the racetrack. The place itself is pretty run down. We used to eat at the restaurant years ago, but it let us down too many times, so these days we drive into the village for dinner.

I took my family here and regretted it. The service was poor and the meal was bad. The waitress was rude and miserable, and everything took a long time. Two of us ordered monkfish and got two small fish tails; the steak was overcooked, and the chicken looked like roadkill. Don’t waste your money here.

The location and parking are great, but the place is very basic and a bit sad. The room wasn’t nice and smelled horrible. I politely asked if I could check in at noon, but they said I had to wait until 2, even though other rooms were ready. The staff were slow and unprofessional. You get what you pay for. I’d only recommend it for one night at most.

The Napoletanas were tasty, though on the small side, and the coffee was a little weak. We stopped here after walking the dogs because it was convenient, though it’s bigger and more impersonal than the kind of place we usually choose. The price was okay, but we’ve paid less elsewhere in the area.
