The square sits in Talavera de la Reina’s historic center, among some of the city’s best known tourist spots. Over time it’s gone by several names: Plaza del Comercio (Commerce Square), Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square), Plaza del Generalísimo (Generalissimo Square), and eventually Plaza del Reloj (Clock Square), named for the old clock tower. The tower there now is much newer, but the clock is the same. Legend says the Airon Well was near the square, a passage to the underworld where people performed rituals for infernal gods.

Pedestrianization has helped this area become a popular meeting spot and an important part of the city’s food and hospitality scene in recent years. Improvements have continued in the surrounding streets too, where it’s a pleasure to sit on a terrace for a drink and tapas.

The breakfast had a great range of choices, and the apartment was stocked with all the utensils and thoughtful little touches we could need. It was clean, lovely, peaceful, and right in the center, with a simple but tasteful style. I only spent two nights there, but came away delighted. Thank you, Leticia, for being so kind and making our stay so pleasant. Congratulations!

There are terraces where you can stop for a drink or a snack, and the ancient monuments are beautiful. It's close to the Roman arches and other monuments too.
