Dori Rooms Hostal

It was noisy and cold. In the morning there was no hot or cold water at the sink or in the shower. The towels were old, and the room felt unwelcoming, more like a hospital ward. The reception wasn’t open and didn’t answer calls. There was a strong smell of chlorine, and we had no cups or kettles in the room. The photos on Google and Booking are very beautiful, though. P.S. I wrote this before checking out. At one point, a hotel employee came to argue with us and evict us.

We booked three rooms for one night at Dori Hostal during peak season, and the price was reasonable. Tarifa is friendly and a bit alternative, with plenty of places to stay, shop, and eat. It hasn’t been taken over by the money-focused feel of the Costa del Sol, and I hope it stays that way. The check-in system works well and is hands-off. You send a copy of your passport beforehand, then get a message with a code to collect the key. There is a service desk staffed at certain times, but the code means you can get to your room whenever you arrive. The rooms were basic but welcoming and nicely decorated, with a fridge and aircon. They were very clean too. I’d recommend it.

There’s plenty of parking around, which was good. The room was okay, but we could hear everything from the street at night. The bathroom layout was a bit odd, perhaps because it was designed for people with disabilities.
