The panoramic views of the bay and open ocean are amazing, and the chickens, duck and donkeys give The Wildhouse a homely feel. This was my fourth time returning, and each stay has been better. ViVi and Anna lead a team that made the whole visit superb, with welcoming, high-standard service. The cleaner keeps everything spotless, and the towels and bedding smell freshly laundered at check-in. I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve loved every stay at The Wildhouse and can’t wait to return. Thank you, Team.

A great spot for people who like to get out and do things, especially surfers. You have what you need, and there’s a friendly community around you, right in the middle of everything you’d want to do. Definitely not a place for whiners. Find Anna, she’s an amazing host along with her team. Thanks for all you do. Peace, health and time to you all!

Amazing place to stay, with beautiful views and nature all around. The host is super relaxed and makes everything easy and enjoyable. I’ll definitely come back :)

The walk is brutal, and telling people to hitchhike almost 4.5 miles into town is insane. I tried to get a ride at 5 am to catch my ferry to Morocco. There aren’t other rideshares, taxis cost 21 euros, and the claim that town is 13 euros away isn’t true. Not all cabs take cards either. Some overcharge and only take cash. I also don’t care to accept rides from the owners, and that was never offered anyway. The owners weren’t approachable. The man who charged me overcharged me, and I only discovered months later that he’d done it wrong. The place isn’t in Tarifa on the map, it’s a different city about 4.5 miles away. I said in my Hostelworld review last year that it was extremely far without a car, and it is. The owner wanted to refute every last thing I wrote, and I’m sure they’ll flag this one too, not to expose the truth. The camping shop is rarely open, if it opens at all. Places close for a long lunch into the evening, so if you leave during that three-hour midday break, finding food is nearly impossible. They also don’t have hot water, despite what they claimed in their response. It’s a hippy-vibes place, but they seem to have an answer for everything about my stay. If you don’t have a car, want an easy way to get to Morocco, or don’t want to hitchhike, do yourself a favor and don’t book here. It’s a so-so place where people care about vibes more than practical stuff. And there are no lockers.

I paid and got verbal abuse from the staff. They promised to return my 95€, but never did, even after I went to the police and had Booking.com call them. Mind blown. The owner has posted a lovely response below. Anyone with a bit of social intelligence can see what you’re like from what you wrote. I hope the next guest gets warned if they arrive at a hostel where staff smoke marihuana, verbal abuse is normal, and the staff use words about your reputation in town that I won’t repeat. Another guest had a similar experience the night before :) I’m writing this so the next person might know what they’re walking into, including a fragile ego that gets angry when challenged. The refund is the fact that matters, whatever our opinions: you still haven’t paid back my 95€ for the days I didn’t stay there, as you promised. You realize that not repaying a guest is criminal? Since there’s no written proof, it seems smart to leave this fact out of your reply. You can get away with it, but I’ll keep trying to get you to correct this injustice. I know I did nothing wrong by standing up to the abuse and trying for days to get my money back for the nights I wasn’t there. You chose to take their money instead of listening rationally. In the end, you have to live with your actions and decide if you can feel good about them. All the best ❣️
