Finca La Palmera B&B

I came planning to stay six weeks, then somehow stayed nearly three months. That probably tells you what you need to know. It’s a great place to be creative, get some exercise, spend time with people, explore the lovely area around Tarifa, or just hang out. I’m already missing it and hope to come back next winter. The people here are what made my work trip feel complete. I’ll remember the connections and the memories for a long time, and I’m grateful to Steffi for everything. The finca is set in nature, in a very rural spot but still close to the beach, and it has such a calm, warm energy. You can see the years of passion and dedication Steffi has put into it in all the little details. What a lovely, peaceful place. 🧡🌈

Even on my own and without a car, I found more to do here and a stronger sense of community than I usually get in a big city. The house draws a thoughtful, lovely group of people who want to slow down and reconnect. We had ukulele and board game evenings, took little trips around the area, and went for long walks through the pastures with the goodest boi Milo. Finca La Palmera is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by nature. Being near Europe's southernmost tip meant the weather stayed mild into December, with plenty of sunny days, and we could warm up by the fireplace in the evenings. I worked remotely and found plenty of coworking tables, as well as quiet corners where people could take calls privately. I had such an amazing, blissed-out stay, and I’m already hoping to return next year. Highly recommend it if you want somewhere to relax and reset.

Stefanie is a fantastic host who makes you feel welcome and generously shares the secrets of this little corner of heaven. She brings people together and makes it easy to get out and explore. Maral, who helps look after the finca and those of us staying there, has a brilliant sense of humour and is an even better cook. You have to try her food! And Miro is a delightful dog who’s always ready to play. We miss him so much. The finca really lives up to its eco co-living values. It’s beautiful, with a permaculture garden, yoga platform, and hammocks, and the WiFi is brilliant, which matters when you’re a digital nomad. The village feels like the middle of nowhere, though it’s within good distance of lovely beaches and other hotspots. There are three great restaurants a three-minute walk away, though when we visited in December it was a bit pot luck whether they were open. I didn’t take enough photos. Writing this from cold, rainy UK, I keep wondering why we haven’t gone back already.
