Hostal Tarifa

We chose this place for the parking, including the option for electric vehicles. It was extremely noisy at night, and we could hear people talking and doing other things. I found hair in the bed and ants in the room, so I'm not sure how clean it really was. Very basic, and I was glad we only stayed one night.

The hotel itself was great: well located, clean, with a very handy underground car park. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a good stay overall. The letdown was breakfast. We hadn't booked it ahead, but wanted to have it one morning and were happy to pay. The staff member in charge seemed annoyed, hurried us while we were ordering, and was disrespectful enough to make us feel like a nuisance. Such a shame after everything else went well.

We booked ahead at a rate that included the car park, which was a big plus since nearby parking is difficult. It is expensive, but the convenience mattered. The hotel is modern, comfortable and clean, and the overnight rates are often very good value, though they are non-refundable. We skipped breakfast, but liked sitting with coffee in the pleasant area out back. The soundproofing could be better, though that's Tarifa. The central boutique places have more character, but I'd still consider this hotel again in the busiest part of the year.

Everything was really clean, and the beach was close enough. The nightlife is in the old part, which isn't too far, but at over 60 I wanted to be nearer home. A fabulous, pretty trendy place.
