La Codorniz

Free parking was a nice extra, and the room was clean and comfortable. We only stayed one night, so didn't get around to trying the pool. What really stood out was that the AC in La Codorniz worked whenever we needed it and kept the room comfortable. Everything matched or exceeded what we'd expected. On this trip, I'd stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels that didn't say their AC wasn't available all the time until you arrived. Big tick for La Codorniz.

The young man at reception in the afternoon was professional and really nice. We spent three nights here as a family, and found the hotel well maintained, though it didn't feel like a 3 star place. Our room was neat but very small. Breakfast wasn't good, and seemed far too expensive for what it was. The restaurant was pricey too, especially compared with the other lovely places in Tarifa and nearby.

We loved the food, and lots of locals eat here, so it seems to be a local favourite. The pool area is great, and the beach is just a short walk across the road. The hotel is very clean, with plenty of attentive, professional staff, which made the service very good. I'd pick a bungalow, since rooms in the main building can be noisy.

We liked the place, especially its authentic feel and friendly staff. The rooms are simple and clean. For the price, it's a great choice and would suit a few days away. We stayed for 2 nights.
