Such a shame, because the location is great. I’ve been coming here for years, but since Alexander hotels took over, the food has been very poor. The meat options are low quality, meals are often cold, and it’s hard to find anything warm and edible. There’s very little choice, our room was old, and the pool area was okay.
We’ve stayed here many times and always enjoy it. It’s a lovely hotel in one of the best spots in Costa Teguise, with brilliant staff, plenty of sunbeds, and breakfasts with lots of variety. The evening entertainment can be hit or miss. Food won’t suit everyone, and catering to different nationalities is difficult, but there’s fresh fish and a joint at the show cooking station, plus vegetables, rice, salads, potatoes, chips and more. The restaurant also serves lovely stone baked pizzas, so I’m puzzled when people bring boxed pizzas into the hotel. I don’t understand the comments about the food being from the 1990s either, unless people are expecting chicken nuggets and burgers to eat with their hands. My one criticism is that the food could be hotter.
The food and drinks were exceptional when we stayed here in 2019, before the management change, so we returned for my husband’s birthday. This visit was a big disappointment, and we won’t be back. We stayed all inclusive for 10 days from 15th Jan 2026, in a comfortable, clean renovated room on the 6th floor with a sea view. The hairdryer was awkward to use, and at 5ft 4 I couldn’t reach the towel rail. Most days, the food choices repeated the day before and weren’t very nice or tasty. One day, all I could manage for lunch and tea was French bread and butter. Chicken from the grill was only available twice, and there were no other options if you don’t like pork, so we ate out most evenings. The restaurant wine wasn’t nice, and the all inclusive drinks only included local spirits. They would serve only two drinks per couple, and there was a queue at the bar every evening. All in all, the all inclusive option wasn’t worth booking. The restaurants nearby were very good. Some of the entertainment was good and some was bad. Nothing matched our last stay.
We were excited to return after a stay a couple of years ago, this time for three birthdays with three couples, but after four days we feel it’s been a mistake. Three people in our party developed sickness and diarrhoea that wasn’t drink related, and each spent at least a full day in bed. When we told reception, we were advised to wash our hands and use the food tongs. We’re in our 60s, not teenagers, and were already doing that. The woman seemed to be repeating a company policy memo. There’s building work in the restaurant, with three food stations removed and an area boarded off. Lunch and dinner were cold on several occasions. The outdoor pool has some kind of non slip paint, but in many places it’s peeling. Some spots are cordoned off, but several others are still a trip hazard if you’re unsteady. The hotel used to deserve its 4 stars. In our opinion, the food and condition now feel more like a 3 star hotel.
The location is great, right across from the beach and an easy walk to bars and restaurants. The rooms are bright, comfortable, and have a nice sea view from the balcony, and the entertainment team is energetic with lots of activities. The cleaners are pleasant and have a tough job. Food is tasty with plenty of choice, apart from frozen sweetcorn in one salad. Five mornings we had to wait for bowls, which arrived straight from the dishwasher, too hot for cereal. There’s no gluten free bread. Drinks include plenty of spirits, wine, and sangria, but beer is Amstel only, always in a small glass, so people quickly join the queue again. One pool is heated to a steady 29c, which is nice. The hotel feels dated and needs some care, especially the old outdoor pool area, where tiles are missing and the loungers are uncomfortable. Cups and glasses aren’t replaced, so we had to clean yesterday’s tea residue ourselves. The water bottle wasn’t refilled and is too big for the bathroom or indoor station taps. The only other station is outdoors, but you can’t take glass poolside, so our bottle has stayed empty since day one. The outdoor bar attendant can be abrupt, especially if you arrive three minutes before closing. She tends to close early and then questions whether you can read the closed sign. We stayed all inclusive for 10 days, but won’t return unless the hotel makes things fairer for non smokers. Smoking isn’t allowed on room balconies, but people do it. Smokers gather in the nice poolside seating areas, including the covered spot by the outdoor bar. I have asthma and had to move when smokers arrived at a table where I’d been sitting alone. Reception said the policy was within the law, and the only designated non smoking spot outside was a shaded area by the hotel door with poor chairs and no sun. Even there, people smoked and nothing was done. It feels like smokers’ comfort takes priority, perhaps because so many guests are of a certain age. Making one of the pool seating areas smoke free would be fairer to everyone. We also saw a different standard for other rules: wear nice sandals to dinner and they send you back to change, while people smoke next to the non smoking signs without consequence. It makes the place feel stuck in the 1970s.
