Hotel Beatriz Costa & Spa

We arrived after midnight and found salad and drinks waiting for us, a lovely touch from the great staff. The hotel is large, very clean and nicely decorated, though a little dated but still adequate. It's on the edge of town, so having a car worked well for us. There are plenty of inexpensive taxis too. An impressive place overall.

The restaurant staff were lovely with our little one and always glad to help, but the bar service felt rude. The blonde woman working evenings made us feel awkward about asking for an all-inclusive drink. Those drinks were okay, though we've had much better, and the cocktails tasted like they came from a premixed ice machine. Restaurant food was average and the choices got repetitive after a few days. The hot water and coffee machine were only available at breakfast, not lunch or dinner. Our room was tired and damaged, with no kettle and a broken toilet panel that meant we couldn't flush. A plus was having UK channels on the TV. It felt like this might once have been a four or five star hotel, but it's now run down and dated. The indoor pool wasn't available. The outdoor pools were cold, as you'd expect in February, though one was heated and good for our little one. Night entertainment was basic. We stayed for the first two nights, but it wasn't for us, so we went into the town centre on the last two. The location wasn't great, around 25-30 minutes on foot to the centre and beach. Taxis cost about 5 euros each way. The hotel has a free shuttle three times a day to the beach, though it doesn't drop you at the family-friendly one, so there's still a walk. We enjoyed Lanzarote and will come back, but we wouldn't choose the Beatriz again since there are better hotels.

The pools are great, and the hotel is huge, so take time to look around. Our room was quite large with a good-sized balcony and lovely views. It's dated, but was clean, and they offered daily service if we wanted it. The bathroom was clean with twin sinks. There was a TV, kettle and good Wi-Fi, though not enough sockets for charging. The only English TV channel was World News, and drinks came in paper cups 😆. The dining room was spacious and clean, and the food was fresh and reasonable. The gym is small and needs an update, but the showers were good and there were lockers. Work was still underway in the spa pool, which was closed. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from the main areas, with a free bus three times a day and a large car park. I wish the pool music had been more relaxed and less repetitive, but we had a really nice, relaxing week here.

The hotel is huge, with pools and entertainment, and breakfast was good. The location works well if you have a car, with a big car park. Our room had a nice balcony, but the air conditioning didn't work, and the carpet had sticky spots, chewing gum I hope. The rooms need some care and feel closer to two stars than four.
