There's no food service here, just a vending machine, and you need a taxi to get to a restaurant. I was really disappointed because the reviews had led me to expect food onsite. There's not even a bottle of water or cups in the room, and when I asked for a cup, I was directed to the vending machine. If you're doing the Camino de Santiago, don't stay here. I can't see how it qualifies as a 3 star hotel with no service at all.

After a long day walking, it was so relaxing to sit by the pool. The property is beautiful, with a historic building and nice rooms, and the food was excellent. Carlos was very welcoming and drove us to and from the Camino, since the property isn't on or near the route. Great hospitality all around.

The staff were friendly, and there was a nice little gift cabinet and shop, a lift and a café bar in the evening. The room was clean and simple but comfortable, with all the basics, including a fridge, TV, safe and the lights you need. I slept well. Breakfast was a decent buffet with hot and cold items, cereal, fresh fruit, tea and the usual coffee machine. There's also a café beside it with better quality coffee. I didn't try the main meals, but had breakfast and cake, and the Santiago tartlet was nice. My room looked over an inner patio, so it felt stuffy, though the air conditioning was quiet and worked well. The walls between rooms are thin, and you can clearly hear people talking, although the hotel mostly seemed quiet. There's a nice outdoor pool, plus an indoor pool and spa at an extra cost of around 17. I booked ahead. In June, it opened at 10 am. For 60 euros, my room was at the south end of Santiago. From the airport, I needed two local buses and a 15 minute walk. I took the Tilos bus 6 from near the center of Santiago, then walked a bit from Tilos. A taxi from the city center costs about 12 euros, depending on the time of day. It's a little out of town, but there's greenery around, fields behind, and a Día supermarket near the bus stop for the ride back into town. Thanks for the stay. I'd go back to that area.

Carlos and Tania made us feel very welcome at this quaint little place. Carlos trained as a chef, and we had one of the finest fish dishes we've ever eaten. The hotel and grounds are clean and nicely appointed, and our room was awesome, with a huge, super comfortable king bed. We stayed as part of the Camino. It's a bit off the route, but the experience was well worth it.

Carlos, the current owner-operator, brought the hotel back to life in 2015. Before that, the lovely 17th century houses had first been made into a casa, a personal 'castle', then turned into a hotel in the 1990s, which closed in 2013. The surroundings are quiet and peaceful, and the service is personal. If you're walking the Camino to O Faramillo or Rua Francos, you can call Carlos to pick you up along the way and drive you to the hotel.
