Hotel Faranda Los Tilos, Ascend Hotel Collection

The staff were the best part of our stay, especially the gentleman at reception and the one serving breakfast. Both were kind and welcoming. The hotel is conveniently close to Santiago center, and our stay was pleasant enough, but it didn’t feel like a four-star place. There was no bottled water or toiletries in the room, the windows were dusty, the doors creaked, and there was a noticeable smell in the hallway. Breakfast also fell short of what we expected.

That shower was fantastic, new and with great water pressure. The bed was comfortable too, and the staff were lovely. We stayed at six hotels in seven days, and this one had the best shower. It looks like at least our room has been renovated. The air conditioning was the letdown. I’d give the place three stars for now, until that and the other issues are fixed. Thanks to the staff for trying to make us comfortable.

The shower itself was good, but the bathroom smelled horribly of feces, so it was hard to enjoy. The WiFi was useless, the sheets and windows were dirty, and the fridge and air conditioning didn’t work despite it being over 30 degrees. The walls are thin, the soap dispensers had no pumps, and the soap was being used for both shower gel and shampoo. Towels were cheap, and there was no hairdryer or other amenities. This “hotel” doesn’t deserve more than two stars. PLEASE hire a GM with actual hotel experience.

Getting luggage from the parking area up the hill to the lobby wasn’t easy. There’s only one lift, which is not ideal when a big group checks in. The room didn’t feel like a four-star hotel room to me, more like two stars.
