Hostal El Cartero

We won’t stay here again or recommend it. Fortunately, we found other accommodation in Teruel where we were treated politely and normally. At this property, the whole exchange felt condescending, unprofessional and inappropriate, with repeated remarks about our supposed lack of money that made us uncomfortable and questioned for reasons beyond the situation. The owner’s manner came across as outdated and disrespectful, and the service was poor overall. We arrived with a Booking.com reservation and learned it had been cancelled without warning. The owner blamed an alleged card problem and kept saying, dismissively, that he “didn’t have the money.” Our card worked perfectly, and we paid without any problem at another accommodation that same night. We tried in good faith to resolve things after the owner confirmed he had a room available, and we agreed to book it there. But while he dealt with us very slowly and took no action, he put that same room back on Booking.com and gave it to someone else. When we said we’d already agreed, he got defensive, raised his voice and spoke rudely to us. Poor management and zero professionalism.
