At 190 euros a night, before the undisclosed pet charge, I expected a brighter room. We were put near street level with almost no natural light, so the room disappointed me for that price. I booked through my credit card app for myself, my partner, and our dog. The listing clearly said the room was pet-friendly and didn't mention an extra fee. Check-in and the stay went smoothly, but only at checkout did we hear there was a 30 euro per night charge for the dog. Nobody had told us beforehand, and we weren't shown or asked to sign the pet policy or a release form at check-in. The hotel later acknowledged that this should have happened. This hidden fee would have affected our decision to stay, and the lack of transparency felt misleading, especially since the booking platform showed no pet fee. When I raised the issue, the hotel said it wasn't responsible for what third-party channels publish and that I should have checked its website. That showed poor customer experience and a lack of accountability. If a hotel accepts bookings through third-party platforms, key charges like pet fees should be communicated and managed properly. To their credit, staff admitted they had made a mistake by not giving us the information form at check-in and only telling us the cost at checkout. Even so, the unexpected charge left us feeling deceived rather than valued as guests.
