Enrique helped us with all our questions and sent detailed instructions, including a few videos on how to use the key systems. The hostess was kind, too, and brought us extra fruit and water. Breakfast was superb, and the comfortable rooms were well equipped. The location made it easy to walk to the main sights in Toledo’s historic centre. Such a lovely little place. I’d absolutely stay again.

The terrace was beautiful and visible from our bedroom window, but it was shared by all the guests. At 11 pm, while I was still in bed with the windows open, two guests walked onto it and could see into our room. We were both shocked and embarrassed. If I’d known, I would have booked another room. Maybe the terrace could be reserved for room 6 on the 3rd floor, closed to guests after 9 pm, or have a sign asking people to respect the privacy of open windows and rooms. Our room was very small, with no desk, though it had an almost comfortable bed, his and her closets, and a large, clean bathroom. Breakfast was basic, with bread, butter, jam, fruit, Oj, cheese and coffee. There was no hot food, and we don’t eat pork, so we didn’t touch the cold cuts. Wi-Fi was unreliable, so don’t count on the hotel connection for work or anything important. There’s no receptionist, and if you check in after 4, you need a code to get in, so check your WhatsApp. With luggage, you’ll have to carry it yourself unless you tell the owners in advance. There are no elevators, and taxis can’t reach the door because the lanes are narrow. Still, we found a lot to love. We chose this beautiful old building after seeing the photos online, and it was just as lovely in person, if not more so. It’s in a great spot, close to the attractions but tucked away from noise on an 8th century Islamic lane, among neighbors who felt like family and homes built with care for beauty, the surroundings and comfort. The courtyard reminded me of Moroccan architecture. The owner put so much work into decorating every nook and bringing back historic elements. Don’t miss the stone basement, which really takes you back in time. Breakfast was included and served by Karima, who seemed to run the whole place with a smile. We saw her prepare breakfast, clean rooms, bring supplies and keep everything running. I wish I had employees as hardworking and pleasant as Karima. She made the stay more special. We also met other guests who were kind and seemed happy. Our room was beautifully decorated, and the staff did their best to solve any issues promptly.

We had room 3, with a lovely city view. It was cozy but spacious, charming, and clean apart from a few tiny stains on the duvet. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent. The main drawback was the thin walls. Our room was right beside the kitchen, so we heard dishes clattering during breakfast. We know that’s not something they can control, but it was noticeable.

The only things that let the stay down were dirty cushions on the bed and a patch of mildew or mold on the wall. The building and its location were perfect for us, though carrying luggage through the old, narrow, charming streets could be a problem if you aren’t prepared for it. The young receptionist who showed us to our room and served breakfast was very nice, polite, and helpful about the area. Booking directly with them may be cheaper.
