Casa rural Cal Modest

We were 15, so the owners gave us both houses, one for six people and one for nine. Each was very clean and had a large bedroom with its own bathroom, plus another bathroom outside. That arrangement worked perfectly for the two separate houses, though it might be awkward if all 15 were sharing one. The owners were lovely and welcoming, and the facilities were excellent. We had breakfast and dinner there. Breakfast was generous and tasty; dinner had less variety and was a little short on quantity, but the food was good. A great spot for families with kids to enjoy the house and everything it offers.

Dogs are welcome, and it’s a brilliant place for a family or a group of friends, especially with children. There’s a heated pool, jacuzzi, indoor games room, big gardens, and a playground, so kids will have plenty to enjoy and explore around the property. The place feels really cozy, and the owners are very friendly. Spectacular.

The family were so attentive and friendly, just lovely people. The kids especially loved being out in nature with the animals, and Mel won them over completely. It’s a great hostess. We had a really good time, and the space felt cozy, clean, and stocked with all the essentials we needed for our stay.

We paid and left politely without making a scene, but the food was so bad we didn’t even go back to use the bathroom. The ingredients were poor: the escalivada was low quality, two of the cargols a la llauna were rotten, and there were only four munchetas and a few bits of butifarra. They also served an unlabeled bottle of this year’s wine, worse than Don Simón, and plenty of soda. We’d agreed on €35 per menu, but they charged us €55 each. Then they wouldn’t take a card because they wanted to avoid the bank fee. That says it all. Cal Rosoño would have been better. If Chicote walked in, he’d have a fit. Thieves.
