Hotel Miraya

I'm still here with two nights left after booking an eight-night stay at Miraya. Torre del Mar has really grown on me. The beach is lovely, there's a great promenade for walking, and there are quite a few places to work out along the shore. I'm even thinking about moving here when I retire. People have been friendlier than in many other parts of Spain I've visited, though most locals here are Spanish and don't speak much English. Prices are very reasonable, and the cafe and restaurant servers aren't pushy like they were elsewhere. It's easy to get to the beach, supermarket, cafes, restaurants and clubs, and public transport to Nerja or Malaga is convenient. At the hotel, the staff are very friendly and my room is spotless, cleaned every day, with fresh towels and sheets daily too. The safe, TV, air conditioning and fridge all work. As a solo traveller I have a small room, without a balcony or view, which is my one complaint. There are larger rooms with sea views, though, and we get what we pay for. You can't pay for a two-star place and expect five-star facilities, so I'm happy here. If you're after a Spanish holiday and a budget stay, I'd recommend hotel Miraya. You won't regret it.

The owners Mari, Antonio, Victor and the staff made us feel like family from the minute we arrived. They're thoughtful, kind and attentive, and clearly want guests to be comfortable. The whole place has a cozy, quiet feel even though it's close to everything you'd want to see in Torre del Mar. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and spotless. The bed was very comfortable, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to sleep well. We also enjoyed the on-site cafeteria for breakfast: freshly toasted bread with tomato and olive oil, plus a well-made café con leche. A family-run hotel with character and the comforts of home. We had a lovely stay and can't wait to return.

The location is great and the view is lovely, but the hotel looks tired. Rooms are plain but do the job, and breakfast is very basic. You can't get food in the afternoon, and there aren't any drinks in the room fridge.

We paid 74,50 euros a night including tax for an economy room, which was on floor -1 in the basement. As soon as I went in, there was a very strong cigarette smell. It was the only room available, so I went to Nerja instead and booked at MB boutique hotel for 54 euros. It was luxurious, and I'm so glad I did. I don't recommend the Miraya hotel.
