The value for money was fine. The hotel staff didn’t speak English, but they were kind and helped us find another way to get to Castellon airport early in the morning when we needed a taxi.

We were staying at Hotel Te Mana, a three-minute walk from Hotel Miramar, and noticed how busy the restaurant was, so we tried it. The €16.50 set menu came with a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert, plus salad, garlic butter, bread and Coke at no extra charge. The food tasted great and the portions were so generous that I couldn’t finish, even though I tried because it was delicious. There were lots of trucks parked around Miramar, so I guess the truckers know where to find a good meal. I’ll eat here again next time I’m passing through.

Fine for one night when you need a bed, but I wouldn’t choose it for a holiday. My single room was tiny but clean and adequate, with air conditioning, a TV and a private shower room. It’s basically a 24-hour truck stop, with lots of articulated lorries, some grilled meat in the bar and a menu of the day. Road noise didn’t bother me, but the hotel itself was noisy and I could hear the bar upstairs. The older woman who checked me in was okay, and the early morning man was lovely. The young women in the bar weren’t welcoming and didn’t seem to have much customer service skill. I spoke to them in Spanish, but they had no patience or smile. The food was okay, but I won’t be rushing back.
