Hotel Madrid Torrejón Plaza

The private parking was handy, and the location near the train station was good. Everything else was fine.

The hotel worked out well for my four nights in Madrid to see Taylor Swift. I arrived Monday the 27th and left Friday morning the 30th. Check-in and checkout were easy, and since I’d paid through Expedia beforehand, there was no deposit. If you’re from the States, bring your passport for check-in, they use that instead of a driver’s license. The receptionists spoke English too. It’s about 15 minutes from the airport, though Uber drivers often went to the Asset Torrejón across the street when I entered the hotel name. Once I got the exact address, they dropped me at the corner in front of the hotel. The neighborhood was decent, with a pedestrian walkway full of little shops, a perfume store more like Walgreens or CVS than a pharmacy, some cafes and restaurants, and a landmark nearby. Madrid’s main sights were a bit far for me, about 25-30 minutes by Uber, and although there’s a train station close by, I didn’t feel confident trying it with my limited Spanish. My room was cozy and spacious, the bathroom was very clean, and I slept comfortably. The toilet had a seal to show it hadn’t been used yet. The shower was small, though that’s probably more my issue because I’m a big person. Bring your own washcloths, since they only had body towels and medium towels for hands and face. The bed was two doubles rather than a queen, so they sometimes separated and things nearly fell between them. I only slept on one side and kept my stuff on the other. There was plenty of closet space, two kinds of hangers, and room for my luggage beside it. They also offer laundry service with prices listed on a paper. There’s a desk, and the small smart TV had cable with audio you could switch to your preferred language. I watched Disney Channel the whole time, and casting YouTube from my phone worked great. You power the room and TV with your keycard in a slot by the door, which also means it’s hard to lose the card. The window opens, though at first I thought the metal outer blind was stuck and couldn’t see through it. Housekeeping raised it for me, so I could see outside and enjoy the fresh air. The housekeepers didn’t speak English, but they were kind. I bring my own blanket, and they folded it, cleared the bed, and seemed to remake it with fresh linen. They mopped daily and took the dirty bathroom linens. The walls were thin, but I sleep through anything, so it didn’t bother me. I’d paid extra for breakfast through Expedia. It was okay, not spectacular, though I’m picky and used to American food, so maybe it was actually great and just missing the bad American stuff. A few pastries were decent, and the juice and fruit were very good. I later tried the cafes on the pedestrian walkway for breakfast and would take a pear with me. On a scale of one to thirteen, I’d give the hotel a 13. I’d stay again!

The room was spotless, and the friendly staff were helpful. The €5.00 breakfast buffet by reception had lots of options and was very good, though I did find a used fork in the clean silverware area. The hotel is beside the Renfe train station, and bus 824 connects it to the airport in about 30 minutes. In my room, the outside metal curtain was stuck, and the bathroom door squeaked very loudly.

The walls between rooms are so thin, and the place is extremely noisy. The worst part was the hotel’s underground parking. It costs 9€ a day, and getting the car into a space felt like a magician’s job. I’m an experienced driver and don’t mind tight parking, but it still took me 20 minutes to park properly. They should shut it down.
