AluaSun Lago Rojo - Adults Recommended Hotel

We ate out every evening, so I can’t comment on dinner, but breakfast was lovely. The hotel was spotless, had a great atmosphere and was so close to the beach. It was perfect for us, with friendly, professional staff throughout. Adrian was especially kind and helpful. When he found out I drank gluten free beer, he made sure more stock was ready in the fridge. He made us feel so welcome. Thanks to Adrian and the team for such a nice stay. The beach was beautiful and only a 30 second walk away, with bars and restaurants all around and a supermarket just around the corner for essentials. Our Junior suite was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and a bathroom that had both a bath and shower. The balcony had a lovely view, especially at sunrise. Staff were welcoming and helpful, the food was good, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Great place.

The rooftop pool was a highlight, with lovely views, plenty of seating and sunbeds, and a bar serving food and drinks. There’s another pool as well. We slept well in the quiet hotel. Our spacious, comfortable junior suite had a lounge area, kettle, TV, small balcony and very comfortable beds, plus a particularly large bathroom. It was cleaned daily. Some parts felt a little dated, but that didn’t affect our enjoyment. Breakfast was buffet style with a good range to suit most tastes. We were on bed and breakfast. The reception area was clean and roomy, with a large bar and lounge. Check-in was warm and welcoming, and staff were friendly throughout. Since it was low season, staffing sometimes seemed reduced, but it didn’t affect our stay. Special thanks to Miguel and Mario at reception for being welcoming, friendly and professional. The hotel is in a lovely neighbourhood near Playa de la Carihuela, just a short Uber ride from Málaga Airport. Shops, bars and restaurants are nearby, and the beach and Paseo Marítimo are a few minutes’ walk away. The long promenade is great for a walk or run. We stayed 22-28 Dec and found it relaxing. It’s an adults-only hotel we’d happily recommend in this area.

The location and service were the best parts for me. The beach is less than a minute away, and shops, bars and restaurants are even closer. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are serviced daily. I was on half board from 16th to 23rd Nov. Breakfast had a wide choice of cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries and cooked food, with the usual tea, coffee and juice. Dinner also had a range that changed each day. The room was on two levels, with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs and the living room two steps down. It had a sofa, fridge, table and TV with English, German and Spanish channels. The balcony’s large sliding doors opened onto a space just big enough for a table and two chairs. The room was a little dated and could use an update. It had air conditioning, but it’s centrally controlled. At this time of year, even the lowest setting of 17 degrees was set to warm rooms, so if you like an ice cold room, you’re out of luck. I ended up sleeping with the air con off and the balcony door open. There are two pools, one on the ground floor and one on the roof, and both have a bar. The rooftop also has a Jacuzzi with stunning views across Torremolinos and out to sea, and its bar serves food. The three lifts are small, fitting 4-5 people, and slow, but they do the job. I didn’t arrive by car, but there isn’t much parking, so you may have to look for a space on nearby streets. For me, the location and service more than make up for the rooms, which feel just a little better than 3 stars, rather than quite 4.
