Hotel MS Amaragua

The small birthday cake they made for my husband was the most memorable part of our stay. They brought it to breakfast with a candle lit and warm congratulations, even though there wasn't much time to arrange a surprise. Those thoughtful gestures are the kind of thing you remember and tell friends about, and it made me want to recommend the place. The building is beautiful and the staff are friendly, but what really stayed with me was their kindness.

June 2025: We’re staying at the MS now, and the hotel is lovely. The decor is beautiful, the staff are helpful, and everything is spotless, especially thanks to the cleaners. The restaurant is stunning, with a view across the pool and beach, and the food is fantastic, presented with real wow factor. There’s a huge selection. The rooms are massive, with a big bath and separate shower. They even provide good quality toothbrushes and paste, shower caps, combs, a sponge, a razor and shaving foam. The Ritual hand wash and moisturizers are lovely too. It may look dated, but the colors feel like typical old Spain. We’d definitely return. The only awkward part was guests racing to claim sunbeds at 8:30 in the morning. There are plenty, so it’s embarrassing and annoying to see people line up at the doors, run to beds, leave their towels, and go. August 31, 2025: We came back for four nights, this time on half board instead of bed and breakfast, because the dining room had looked good when we visited in June. What a letdown. All the hot food was cold. The older chef in charge was unpleasant as usual. Each night there was meat on a spit, chicken, beef or pork, but it was cold or as tough as old boots. One night the beef couldn't be cut even with a steak knife. When we asked for raw meat from the display to be cooked, they served us overcooked meat from under the counter instead. The chips were cold and undercooked too. It was frustrating because it could have been so good. Breakfast was much the same, with overcooked bacon, cold beans and cold porridge. The best dish was fresh pasta cooked each night by a lovely woman. We only had a side sea view this time, not a suite like in June, but the room was still great, spotless as always, with a lovely bathroom. One twin bed tipped up when I sat on its edge. We found it had a caster missing and legs of uneven length. We reported it to reception on the first night, but it took two days to fix. The sliding wardrobe doors stuck and blocked the drawers, which we couldn't use. We reported that too, but nothing was done. The escalator up to the restaurant gets crowded, with people queuing on it, and paying for dinner drinks on the way out creates another bottleneck. It doesn't seem well thought out. The hotel is beautiful, but the restaurant needs sorting out.

Breakfast was good, but the stay as a whole wasn't. The hotel feels outdated and needs an upgrade, and the spa zone should have been renovated 15 years ago. For this quality, I don't think the nightly price is fair.

The pool, garden, hotel and rooms were all spotless, and the staff were helpful and obliging. Food was plentiful, with what seemed like something for everyone. The bar and entertainment were decent, and with mostly mature guests, it never got too rowdy. We had a great holiday here, and this is another hotel we need to revisit.
