Apartamentos Mar de Tossa

The apartment was comfortable and in a great location, but the service and communication left a lot to be desired. Check-in took an hour because we were sent to three different places to collect the keys. Once at the apartment, the directions they’d left were wrong, and they didn’t seem to know what directions to give us either. Two hours after we’d left, they emailed to say they’d missed our call and we hadn’t replied. We explained we’d followed the apartment’s directions, and they said they needed to check them because they didn’t know what to tell us.

The price didn’t match the quality, and we won’t be back after this terrible stay at Mar de Tossa apartments on Carrer Nou. We were there June 21st and 22nd, 2024, in apartment 211. The place smelled bad as soon as we walked in, the bathroom was old-fashioned, and the furniture was scratched and worn. There was no soundproofing. With a bar across the street and neighbors making noise upstairs, it was unbearable at night. We could hear people outside as if they were inside, and couldn’t sleep until 5:00 AM.

The windows are paper-thin, and the area is a party zone, so bring earplugs if you want to sleep. As soon as you walk in, the apartments smell damp. The kitchen is poorly equipped: no washing machine, pan lids, dish towels, bowls, blender, or even a basic cutting board. The stovetop is tiny, so cooking much isn’t realistic. The extra bed is a mess of three pieces that keep coming apart, and there are no ceiling lights in either the living room or bedroom. Not recommended at all for the price.

This was a disgrace of a hotel. Some people had no air conditioning or electricity, and there were guests on oxygen, but with no light, they didn’t seem to care. The place is made to sound lovely, but it’s nothing special, and the staff leave a lot to be desired. We called two days before arriving because we were traveling with someone in a wheelchair and wanted to check accessibility. They told us everything was accessible and there would be no problem. At 3:00 PM, we arrived to find a long queue. An hour later, a woman came out and split everyone into two lines because they needed to take their break and didn’t care about the queue already there. Soon after we checked in, they said we hadn’t told them we were bringing a wheelchair. We had called to reserve a parking space for it, and the person using the wheelchair was left in the car in the blazing sun. The manager was the rudest of all, huffing as though it was our fault. It was in the call log, so she had to apologize, though she clearly didn’t care. We then waited 30 minutes while she called her boss to find a solution. We’d recommended the place to friends, but after the appalling service and staff trying to accuse us of lying, we told them it was worthless and to cancel their reservation. Honestly, the staff were incredibly rude and indifferent.
