The cove was just down the alley, and I had reserved the fourth-floor terrace. The view was magnificent, and there were restaurants nearby. Such a pleasant getaway. I'll be back to Tossa!

The hotel is right beside the playa, castle and rondo, but the rooms are tiny and there's nowhere to put luggage. The shower is built into a corner of the room like a coffin, and there's no refrigerator. The air conditioner switches off by itself, without you being able to control it. Breakfast is advertised as lasting until eleven, but they stop replenishing much of the food well before then. When staff cleaned my room, they put my shoes on top of my suitcase, which was unhygienic and uncouth. Go elsewhere with your euros.

The top-floor balcony room had a lovely view from both the room and the terrace. It wasn't huge, but it was just right, with strong water pressure and everything working properly. Check-in was very easy with a digital code, and they provided still and sparkling water. The location, tucked along a charming little lane, was perfect. Big suitcases might be a bit tricky, though that's part of Tossa de Mar's charm. Everything went smoothly, and we're really glad we stayed for the night. Highly recommend it. If you're driving, call first: we arrived at 20:00 and there was no parking left, so we had to park about ten minutes away.

We had a great three-day stay at Es Menut in the old town of Tossa de Mar. The rooms are on the small side, but the rest of this stylish Hostal chain was fantastic. Everything is close by, including the restaurants, lighthouse, castle, and beaches. Breakfast was great, and the rooftop terrace has a sea view. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'd recommend booking a room with a balcony. We also went to another hostal from the SALAT'SHH.
