I'm replying to the host's response because the unprofessionalism keeps getting worse. I booked through Booking.com and uploaded my credit card details as required. After arriving, I paid right on the spot. What does it even mean to say I brought my 3 year old daughter “incognito”? The host offered another room that wasn't in use, first for 40 euros, then changed it to 60 euros, claiming the extra was for cleaning. At 145 euros a night, a small double room with a shared bathroom is already clearly overpriced. Telling guests they have a problem and should stay in a five star hotel instead is deeply disrespectful. It makes me wonder whether the other 53 comments were written by her. I'm fine staying anywhere if the host treats people with respect. Trying to add a charge for showering a 3 year old is pathetic. Good luck to you too. And my husband didn't like staying there either. There's clearly no imbalance of comments. My first comment: I'm surprised Pension Tres Casas has such high ratings. A double room costs 145 euros per night, and the place is in the middle of nowhere. By comparison, a hotel in Real Sitio de San Ildefonso costs 100 euros for a 2 bedroom plae with an individual bathroom. At pension tres casas, the bathroom is shared, the walls are thin enough for noise to carry all night, the heating was inadequate, and the stairs are steep. I arrived with my 3 year old daughter and 10 month old baby, but I had forgotten to include my 3 year old in the reservation. The owner wanted to charge extra for her breakfast and shower. In a place like segovia, which takes pride in the quality of its bread, breakfast was far from pathetic, with American coffee, cheap bread guests had to toast themselves, and cheap cheese and meat. My daughter barely ate, and charging a child for a shower she takes with me feels like the thinking of someone focused on making money. I understand that the owner runs a business, but some integrity would go a long way. Instead, she seemed intent on “juicing” guests for more and more money. She agreed to lend me a second bed for the second night for 40 euros, then later called to ask for more money for cleaning and for a second bed I had never requested. She also said her card machine wasn't working and asked for cash, which was another lie: it was working fine, and we weren't in any rush to have the payment processed. Money itself isn't the main issue for me. The host's clear lack of ethics and constant need to charge more is pathetic.
