Casa Conesa II

Raquel made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. We spent two nights there for a weekend and were very comfortable. Our room was “Autumn,” with a comfortable bed, though I’d replace the single pillow shared by two people. Each room has its own dining table and a shelf in the fridge. They also left two coffee capsules, herbal teas, and complimentary chocolates, a lovely touch. There was useful information about the Maestrat Turolenc in the room. The whole house is in excellent condition, with tasteful decor that makes it a pleasant place to stay. A rural house with everything you’d expect, and more. Recommended.

We had a lovely, peaceful stay, and the owner was so friendly. She left us muffins, coffee pods, and a couple of bottles of wine. The house itself was very nice, though all those stairs could be difficult for older people. I did miss having a toaster in the kitchen.

Parking in the village was easy, and the Wi-Fi worked fine, which mattered since some phone companies had poor reception. We couldn't try the pool in March, but it looked very inviting. The kitchen was handy for simple breakfasts and dinners: there's a fridge, toaster, coffee maker, and microwave, and they leave two Dolce Gusto capsules, teas, decaf coffee, oil, salt, and sugar. We managed with food that only needed heating, or tinned food, so we didn't need to rely on anyone else. The village is pretty, but you'll need a car to get around the area. The walk to the source of the Río Pitarque takes about 45 minutes and is well worth it, though the road has lots of bends. Cantavieja and Mirambel are closer, with a better road. We went in March and the bedrooms felt a little cold even with the electric radiators. We turned them up and that helped. The dining room was quite chilly too, and since we never shared it with anyone for breakfast or dinner, we could have used a bit of warmth. No one explained how to use the electric heater, and there wasn't a plug nearby. The pillows also felt a bit hard. In the Primavera room, the shower leaked. It seemed to run on an electric water heater, or something like that. After a long, relaxing shower following an excursion, the hot water stopped completely. There was literally no water coming out of the hot side, so we had to wait before the second person could shower.

The rooms are well equipped, with towels and shower gel, and there’s a well kept pool with a little seating area nearby. We had dinner there one evening at the tables and benches, and it was really nice. The shared dining room has complimentary coffee, but cooking options are limited to a small microwave, with no ceramic hob. Each room gets a shelf in the fridge, depending on the season. This rural house has four rooms. It’s a good place to switch off, since only Movistar or Yoigo have mobile coverage. Beds are on the hard side, and you may feel it in your back. There’s a small shop in town, but go early if you need something or you could be waiting a long time for your turn. Apart from that, it was very good.
