What I'll remember most is how the staff looked after me at Christmas. I had recently had tooth implants and could only eat puréed food, so the kitchen went out of its way to make a special Christmas dinner for me. I was able to join the evening with friends without feeling left out. We ate in the former chapel, now a beautifully repurposed restaurant, which made for a magical setting. The Parador de Trujillo has a rare sense of history that feels like its soul, not just a backdrop. It occupies Santa Clara, a former 16th-century Franciscan convent founded in 1533 and turned into a Parador in 1984. The Renaissance cloister, thick stone walls, and vaulted ceilings feel both grand and peaceful. The old nuns' cells are now stylish rooms, simply and thoughtfully designed, with small historical details.

The location is very good for visiting Trujillo, but getting there is difficult and the parking is expensive, which doesn't seem justified. The rooms are large, nice, cozy, and very comfortable. Breakfast was poor for a four-star place.

The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were wonderful and helpful. It's peaceful and quiet here, with only a short walk into the town centre. Parking is good and it's easy to get to; they sent a very good map before we arrived. I hope the restoration works are finished by my next visit.

The pool has both sunny and shady places to lounge, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Some speak very good English. The hotel is in Trujillo's old city, within walking distance of Plaza Mayor and the castillo, where Game of Thrones was filmed. Cáceres, Merida, and the Guadalupe monastery are about an hour's drive away.

We had a very spacious, clean room, and the staff were really friendly during our three-night stay this week. The location is perfect for exploring historic Trujillo. We stay at Parador hotels whenever we can, and this one didn't disappoint. Service in the bar and restaurant was a little slow, though. Highly recommended.
