Albergue Convento Del Camino

The building and its courtyard are lovely, and it's in a great part of Tui, with pretty streets and plenty of places to eat. The woman at reception was incredibly kind and helpful. But the room was cramped and far too hot, and the beds were so uncomfortable that we barely slept. Other people there that night said the same. The shower was broken, and remember to bring your own towel. It wasn't bad value, but I wouldn't choose it first.

The old building is really pretty, and the dorms were very comfortable. I found the receptionist warm and welcoming, and the kitchen and shared area had everything we needed. The downside was the shower setup: only two for everyone, one for men and one for women.

The room was so noisy that I barely slept. It was right beside the bathroom and kitchen, and the bedroom door made a lot of noise too. Whenever the person below me moved, the whole bunk shook and woke me up. At 3am, someone I didn't know came into our room looking for something. That was unsettling and completely unacceptable. There was only one toilet and one shower for the women on the whole floor. The castle sounded romantic, but I can't think of anything good about the stay. Breakfast was €3, though there was almost nothing I could eat: just toast with jam and cornflakes. I took a coffee and an apple and left. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The beds were already made with proper linen and sheets, soft and comfortable, and there was a locker for each of us. After so many nights on squeaky beds with plastic sheets, that felt like a real treat. The staff were lovely and helpful from the time we arrived until we left. With the hurricane moving through, they even let us stay longer the next day. We usually choose municipal albergues, but spending a few extra euros here made for a lovely little retreat, a real pearl in Tui. The kitchen was short on equipment, with just one cutting board, one huge knife and a couple of pots. Still, we managed to cook dinner and eat it in the atmospheric living room downstairs.
