Hostal Los Cerros

After two lovely nights here, I can recommend the place. Our room had a balcony, two comfortable 1.05m beds, a large bathroom, and toiletries. It was spacious and very clean, with central heating and an extra heat pump. We traveled with our four-year-old, who doesn't count as a guest, and slept wonderfully. The exterior might give the wrong impression, but inside we found a lot to like. The staff were incredibly friendly and the service was excellent. One night I arrived very late and put two towels under my pillow so I'd sleep slightly propped up. When we came back, they'd cleaned and left me an extra pillow without my asking. There's no parking, but it's easy to find a spot very close to the city center.

The owners were rude and unfriendly, which I found especially disappointing for a family business. On day two, they took the air-conditioning remote because, as I understood it, they come and go as they please. The radiator heating worked well, but the owners controlled when it was turned on and off, so we couldn't set our own room temperature. During our three days, they didn't clean properly, only taking out the rubbish and making the bed. And the walls are so thin you can hear everything.

It may be a one-star hostel, but I'd give it more. The exterior looks different from the inside, where at least our room and the hallway were completely new. The room was spotless each day, and the hostel smelled fresh whenever we came in. The service was friendly, and it's only a five-minute walk from the center. We'd stay here again if we return to Úbeda.

It's a shame because the location is good, and the beds were comfortable with modern furniture. But the cleaning was seriously lacking: the floors weren't swept, and there was hair and lint all over the bathrooms. Neither the bedroom nor bathroom had been cleaned thoroughly. The rooms are small, too.
