Finca San Antonio Holiday Rental

We stayed in a penthouse apartment in August. It was high standard, with beautiful views, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to families. The community residents recently hired a lifeguard to enforce pool rules from 3 to 9 p.m. My 12-year-old son was told he couldn’t jump or dive into the large pool on our first day. I was even reprimanded for picking him up and throwing him into the water while I was in the pool too. Families used the pool until 3, then it was nearly empty. No inflatables or beach balls, and a strict 9 p.m. curfew. In other words, no fun. When I challenged the community president, she gave me parenting advice, which made me very angry. She watched the pool from her apartment and called the lifeguard if anyone broke a rule. When I pressed the issue, Spanish law was cited as the reason. I see it differently: the residents should be in control. My complaint is that none of these rules and regulations were advertised in detail before booking. My son stopped using the pool, which was a big disappointment for him. We ended up staying with friends nearby, where the children could enjoy their pool. It was a real shame, because the complex is a great venue. But it’s managed by a bunch of jobsworths who shouldn’t allow private rentals. The last straw was seeing a resident and the lifeguard tell off a young French girl for using one of their personal sun loungers. She was visibly upset. There weren’t any sun loungers around the pool either, another example of residents controlling things to discourage families from enjoying the facilities. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere if you have young children or want to enjoy yourself on holiday. We didn’t feel welcome at all, and there are plenty of other places to rent in the area.
