Casa Rural Argonz Etxea

The setting is peaceful and the location is excellent. It's a pretty rural house, and the rooms are spacious, though they could do with a bit more cleaning. Breakfast was decent. In the village, options are limited to the gas station and a bar, plus a small place for dinner or burgers. Isaba is only five minutes farther up the road, with plenty of restaurants and a livelier feel.

The house is lovely and the setting idyllic, but the cleanliness was a real letdown. The kitchen was neglected and dirty, and our bedroom and bathroom were filthy when we arrived. There was dust, lint, and cobwebs everywhere under the bed. The area around the shower was blackened and badly needed bleach. They didn't clean during our stay either.

We spent five nights in the attic apartment and found it comfortable and very nice. The kitchen was fully equipped, with a large fridge and freezer. We missed a toaster, kitchen roll or a dishcloth, and an extra roll of toilet paper. The shower screen was also covered in limescale and needed cleaning. With those things sorted, we'd have rated it a 10; as it was, an 8. We recommend it.

The breakfasts were delicious, with lots to choose from, including homemade cakes and pastries, toast, cereal, and tea. Having a fridge, kettle, toaster, and microwave available also gave us plenty of independence. We loved staying in the house and village, both beautiful and surrounded by incredible scenery. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the owner was attentive and easy to reach if we needed anything.
