The breakfast was really poor, and the staff seemed unprepared to handle complaints respectfully. At first, the manager dealt with our concerns well, but later he shouted in my face, interrupted my wife while she was explaining what had happened, and walked away when we tried to talk to him. After that, we didn't feel comfortable staying there and cut our holiday short. We had booked an apartment through booking.com because we needed air conditioning and room service for our one-year-old. We discovered the apartments had neither, and booking.com doesn't filter them out. If nothing goes wrong, it may be an okay place to stay, but if you have a problem, good luck. The manager shouldn't be working in customer service, let alone at a four-star hotel.

The town is picturesque, and the hotel sits in a lovely setting. Our room was lovely too, and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. We asked for fresh towels, but they never arrived, which was a shame, though not a big deal. In the off season the restaurant is closed for dinner. Midweek, you can get bar food at 7pm at Casa Ceto next door, where the locals go. The beach is a 10-15 minute walk away. Breakfast was 11 EU and had a wide selection: rolls, cheeses, meats, cereals, fresh juices, plus eggs and bacon made to order.

After a few mediocre hotel stays, this place was a welcome surprise. It's a really comfortable, modern hotel, around a 10-minute drive from Unquera. The rooms are fantastic, and there's a pleasant bar and a simple restaurant on site. There are also a few other bars around town. It's not especially convenient for Camino walkers, but arranging a taxi makes that manageable.

We only stayed one night, and the hotel is so far from much of anything that it was very quiet. We could still hear the neighbors next door, though. The exterior is great, with a lounge room that has a small pool table, and there's a nice outdoor terrace. The restaurant is nicely decorated, but its menu is very limited: a few starters, two salads and two burgers for dinner. If you don't want junk food, there isn't much choice. Breakfast was limited too, although the woman in the restaurant was sweet and polite. The furnishings look new and well thought out, but our junior suite felt somewhat empty and not very cozy.

There are some nice places to eat nearby, and the small kitchen in our room came in handy. We really enjoyed the stay. The room was clean, a good size, and nice.
