Las Bodegas Del Gilo

The best part of this beautifully run hotel was Pilar, who welcomed me with a huge smile and helped me throughout my stay. I'm not sure whether she's the manager or owner, but she checked on me several times and clearly cares about every detail, from the ancient beams to the restored stonework. She seemed to truly enjoy her work, which was uplifting for a sometimes weary traveler. When I worried about the wi-fi in my room, I called her and a kind gentleman brought a signal booster within minutes. She offered help in all sorts of ways and made sure I was doing well. I stayed four nights at Las Bodegas Del Gilo and appreciated having a kitchen while traveling open-ended and working on my laptop. The large, attractive dining room connects to a spacious kitchen that's well equipped and impeccably maintained, so I happily cooked several meals there instead of going to restaurants. As an American, I have to admit the Spanish meal schedule doesn't work for me. There was also a handy little grocery store just a couple minutes away on foot. I was waiting for a delayed delivery nearby and tried to extend my stay when the delay continued, but they were fully booked. Later, when another booking went bizarrely sideways on its first day, I checked with Pilar again, but there still wasn't a vacancy. As a woman traveling alone, I highly recommend this hotel, and I'm very grateful to Pilar for her friendliness and first-rate accommodation. Thank you, m’dear!!
