Hotel Veracruz Plaza & Spa

The location makes this a handy base for exploring the city. It's right in the centre, within a short walk of the museum, town square, and main shopping street. There are also plenty of nearby restaurants, and visits to local wine bodegas are easy to arrange from here. The rooms are modern and comfortable, and the top-floor rooms have fantastic views over the city skyline. The Spanish continental buffet breakfast was a pleasant start to the day. Reception staff were welcoming and attentive, and check-in and checkout were smooth. Basement parking is convenient if you're driving, and you can charge an electric vehicle for an extra fee. A couple of things could be better in the room. The hot water can get scalding, so be careful, and I couldn't find a way to turn off the heating. A simple on/off switch would help. The hotel's website photos could also be better quality and show the features more effectively, since the current pictures don't quite do it justice. With better room temperature controls and a stronger online presence, this would be an even better option in the area.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the place was clean. It's close to the town centre and has excellent amenities.

I gave an extra star because the reception team were first class. Our room was clean, though shabby. It was a first for me to stay in a four star hotel without tea or coffee making facilities in the room. There was also a full length mirror just leaning against the wall for some reason.

We've used this fantastic hotel for the second time while travelling from Santander to the south of Spain. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are friendly, breakfast is good, and the underground parking is secure. Definitely recommend!
