Hotel el Castell

Yes, we'd stay here again! The building is a beautifully restored traditional stone hotel in the old part of town, just around the corner from the ancient church and castle. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and storing our two bicycles inside was no problem. The rooms are small but modern and nicely decorated. Having a kettle with tea and coffee in the room was a great bonus. Breakfast was excellent: juice, coffee, quality ham and cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt, tomato, and fresh toasted bread. The staff were all very friendly. They didn't speak English and we knew very little Spanish, but nothing was a problem during our stay.

We came on Thursday hoping to get some sleep, and the hotel was empty until the following day. Our room, 101, was right beside reception, so we heard people coming and going and the intercom constantly. We raised the problem with the receptionist, but they wouldn't let us change rooms. The hotel itself is very nice, and the surroundings are wonderful, but this setup meant we got no rest. Room 101 is accessible, which is useful for someone who needs it, though it was uncomfortable for us. After this experience, I won't be coming back.

The staff made us feel at home, and the location beside the castle and church was a real treat. Breakfast was spectacular and well worth adding to the stay. We spent two nights here this past weekend and were delighted. They send you a helpful document with directions, access codes, and parking details. The parking is about a two-minute walk away. If we return to Valderrobres, we'll definitely stay at Hotel El Castell again. Thanks so much for everything!

It's quiet, spotless, and charming, with everything close by for a walk around town. Breakfast was really complete, too. The shower was the one small letdown: the water pressure was weak and it didn't get very hot, which isn't my preference. Nothing major, though. I'd also put a little light inside the closet, haha. I think I'd stay here again if I'm back in Valderrobres. Thanks for everything.
