Bed&Breakfast Una Habitación Propia

The building and room seemed charming at first, but the stay became unpleasant. There was no window in our room, and it grew musty during the day. We also had to share the bathroom, so we couldn't shower or wash whenever we wanted. Communication with the staff was difficult. They weren't friendly, and Spanish was the only language they spoke, which left us in trouble as guests who couldn't speak it. When we were leaving for our flight, we sat down for five minutes and used the toilet once more. The hosts were extremely upset, and an argument followed. They slammed the door after we finally left, even though we'd tried hard to communicate. Violence is never the answer, even when people don't get along. We'd love to return to Valencia, but not this B&B.

The room was so uncomfortable that we won't return. The mattress was a disaster, and I weigh only 48 kg but sank into it. The linens were old, and the pillows were uncomfortable, some too hard and some too soft. There wasn't a wardrobe, just a wobbly hanger that looked ready to fall. You could hear everything through the poor doors and windows. I also couldn't understand why the cleaning staff were always in the kitchen and dining area, talking and making noise. The place is cheap and central, but that doesn't make up for the lack of basic comfort. At least the bed should let you rest, but it didn't. Honestly, we'd rather pay another 100-200 euros for a hotel. This wasn't worth it.

They agreed to refund what I paid, but I never received it, and none of my follow-up messages got a reply. That alone made this a lousy experience. My room faced a busy street with bright lights and noisy bars. The single-glazed window wasn't great, but having no curtain was worse: the building across the street overlooked the room, so there was no privacy. The streetlight kept me awake all night. Avoid at all costs.

The shared areas were wonderfully clean, and the location is hard to beat. I honestly don't think I've ever stayed so centrally in a city I've visited. The rooms could use cleaning too, and a fresh set of towels would be a nice touch.
