Casual Vintage Valencia Hotel by Casual Hoteles

The location is the main thing this hotel has going for it. In my interior room the air felt stuffy, and in winter there was no way to switch on the air conditioning. The shower kept swinging by itself from icy cold to scalding hot. They said reception could be reached on WhatsApp anytime, but it took five hours to get a reply. There’s also just one tiny lift for the whole hotel, so I waited at least five minutes each time.

The beds weren’t comfortable, and the decor felt kind of cheesy. It’s a no-frills hotel in a great location, but the street was noisy at night. Valencia was still warm, yet the hotel had switched off the mini splits for November. We had to open the windows to cool the room, which let in even more noise. Getting the room cleaned was difficult too. If we weren’t ready when they knocked, we missed housekeeping for that day.

I only meant to stay one night at Casual Vintage after my first hostel made me uncomfortable because of both the guests and staff. I’d originally booked two hostels for two nights each, but ended up spending four nights here, in a different room every night as I checked out and rebooked while changing my Valencia plans on the fly. The rooms’ quirky artwork and individual style were inspiring, and the hotel itself is beautiful. I think I met most of the staff, and they were attentive and helped with everything I asked. Francesca, Jeremy and Oscar stood out because I got to talk with them more and their service was outstanding. Every room had a great shower, with just the right pressure and temperature. They also kept my luggage in storage while I was out each day. I only had breakfast once, but there was lots of choice and it was nourishing. I can’t recommend the place highly enough. Now that I know Casual Vintage has locations around the world, I’ll use it on future trips too. Five stars don’t feel like enough, 10/10.

The rooms were clean and had a fun theme, and the atmosphere was really nice. The staff were so kind that they even gave the kids lollipops. We had a great experience.
