Eurostars Acteón

Breakfast was a real bright spot: lots of choice, good food overall, and one of the best hotel sweet sections I've seen in a long time. For the price, I recommend it. The room we first got had stained covers, hair in the bathtub and a sticky counter. We arrived at 10pm, called reception, and when I showed the receptionist the bathroom, she wiped the hair away with toilet paper and asked if that was enough. I asked for disinfectant spray; she agreed and went out, but after 30 minutes with no sign of her, we went downstairs and asked for it. They offered us a downgrade if we didn't like the first room, and we accepted. The next room smelled stale, as if it hadn't been used in weeks. We were tired and put up with a lot, but the room was filthy. Even after scheduled cleaning it was still dirty. I accidentally spilled water on the floor, and the paper I used to wipe it turned very dark gray, as if the floor hadn't been cleaned in weeks. A few times, towels that were meant to be changed for clean ones were still dirty. During turndown, my personal pillow kept ending up on the armchair, and my jeans were put in a corner so dirty they weren't black anymore and were even dirtier. There was mold in the bathrooms, and the walls and floors were chipped. Up close, the hotel looked as if it hadn't been touched in years.

We had a pleasant stay. The rooms were standard, clean and had all the facilities we needed. The location was lovely: popular areas were a 20-minute walk away, and buses run right outside for going further. Breakfast was really nice, with fresh fruit and different egg options every day. There were enough choices for vegetarians.

The location and service were good, but the room had several problems. In January the heating didn’t work, and moving to another room made no difference. Staff said the bathroom towel warmers had been out of order for years. The two single beds were pushed together, but they sat on wheels and kept sliding apart. I was worried about falling into the gap during the night.

At 9am, other guests were left waiting about 20 minutes because so many tables in the breakfast room had been reserved for a sports team. It was nearly chaotic, and the staff had to deal with complaints while rushing to reset tables. The breakfast didn’t feel like four-star quality, three-star at best.
