Hotel ILUNION Valencia 4

The view from our room was fantastic, the location was great, and reception gave us a warm welcome. Still, it didn't feel like a four-star hotel. The main problem was a very strong urine smell in the bathroom. It clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. The lifts were broken or out of service. One mixed point: there was a Nespresso machine in the room, but the cheap pods made poor coffee. I expected better. Apart from the smell, it wasn't bad, but clean toilets and working elevators would make a big difference.

The rooms looked much more dated in person than they did in the photos, and getting around the hotel was frustrating. The elevator at Ilunion 4 wasn't working, so we had to use the one from Ilunion 3. I later realized one elevator did work, but it didn't display the floors, which was confusing. There's no hotel parking, and finding a spot nearby is quite hard. The staff were really nice and helpful, and breakfast had a good variety. No complaints on those fronts.

I stayed with my family for the half marathon and was very happy with the choice. The hotel isn't in the city centre, but it's only a few steps from bus and metro stops, and public transport in Valencia works very well. Breakfast was very good and varied.

Carlos and Raul, the two guys working at the bar, were excellent, attentive, and a pleasure to talk to. They made our stay. The rooms were a little disappointing, with a couple of broken things, and the marathon buffet we laid €35 for was a letdown.
