Sercotel Sorolla Palace Hotel

The breakfast was really complete, and everyone serving it was so kind and welcoming. I also thought the stay was excellent value, and the reception team came across as very professional. I felt safe here as a woman travelling alone and stayed three nights. The room was clean, with housekeeping doing a great job each day. They work incredibly hard and deserve credit. My one gripe is the water charge. I understand bottled water may cost extra, but it would be nice to have one free bottle waiting in the room. After a long flight, paying two euros just to get a drink felt disappointing, especially when plenty of hotels in Geneva provide one.

The room was roomy, comfortable, and clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our four-night stay. Sercotel Sorolla Palace is also well placed, with good restaurants, cafés, and useful amenities close by, so it works well for business or a holiday. There were a few things that felt less than four-star. The restaurant menu was limited and the food nothing special; breakfast was good quality, though it could use more organic and health-conscious choices. Parking seemed quite expensive, and there wasn't even a complimentary bottle of water in the room. It felt as if every extra came at a cost. Still, the location, cleanliness, and service made for a very good stay. A few more dining options and included amenities would improve it.

Getting to the city center takes about 45 minutes by bus, if you're lucky. The hotel is really on the edge of town. Breakfast was okay, but the same food appeared daily, with no vegetables except tomatoes and no salads at all, so it was a hard setup for vegetarians. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and dinner in the restaurant was decent. The pool seemed to be covered for winter and smelled bad, though I imagine it would be much nicer in summer. For a hotel this big, the sauna is tiny. There was no toilet brush in the room, which was odd, and no water bottle or kettle either.

The room was a good size, and the facilities, room service, and general upkeep were all great. It was also only a short walk to Empalme metro station. We visited in the low season and would stay again. The gym equipment needs checking because some of it was out of order. The staff were very helpful, though they didn't quite go the extra mile that would have made this a five-star stay.
