What upset me most was how dismissed I felt as a guest. It wasn't so much about the money as the lack of empathy. I've stayed at dozens of places across Spain, and this was the only time I felt a hotel cared more about sticking to a script than treating me like a person. I booked with high expectations, but when I needed help with a situation genuinely outside my control, customer service disappeared. I asked for a refund and got rigid policies, no attempt to understand, and no solution or compromise. After being ignored, I feel this review is the only way to be heard. I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience with Star Home left me disappointed and stressed during my trip. I hope management reconsiders how it treats customers asking for a fair resolution. If Star Home reaches out and does the right thing, I'll gladly update this review.

The balcony room is a favorite of mine, with a lovely view over the city. It's right in the centre, and the cleaning was done well every day. I could reach support on WhatsApp whenever I needed it. I've stayed here before and will again. I can only recommend this hotel.

It's about a 20-minute walk from Joaquin Sorolla station, so it isn't ideal if you don't want to drag luggage around. Compared with the hostel we stayed at in Madrid, the bathroom here felt tiny. I'm only 5'3" and found it hard to move around and use it. The faucet and toilet are both very noisy. The air-conditioning can't be adjusted from the room, and there are no bedside lamps, although there are sockets on both sides of the bed. The sink is outside the bathroom. All entrances except the main door use codes, there's no receptionist, and the little lift only fits one person with one suitcase. For an overnight stay it's fine, but I wouldn't want to stay longer. The WIFI is really good, and I appreciated the hot and cold shower and strong water pressure. For the trip back to Joaquin Sorolla from Star Home, I'd take a cab instead of an Uber. Mine cost 4.75 euros on a Monday morning, while an Uber comfort car was around 10 euros.

The room was big, close to the centre and subway, and cleaned every day. There was no reception, and maintenance seemed poor: the shower filter was full of sand. The shower is in the room. The air-conditioning is central and set to a low temperature, so you can't change it or switch it off.
