Hotel Villacarlos

We got fresh, clean towels and made beds every day during our four-night stay, which I hadn't expected. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast had a nice buffet. The room felt a little dated, but we paid 10 euros a night for an upgrade to a terrace room, which was lovely. I think it's good value for the price, and buses make getting to the city center easy if you don't want to walk everywhere.

The staff were extremely friendly and ready to help, which made the stay feel welcoming. Hotel Villacarlos is also well placed for getting around, and the rooms are pleasantly spacious. Some areas could use a more thorough clean, but for the price, it offers very good value.

The cleanliness was the biggest problem. The hotel was very dirty, I found bugs, the towels were stained and seemed very old, and there was mold on the walls. I don't blame the cleaning ladies, who were always friendly and eager to help, as I suspect they may not have enough supplies or the owner may not invest in basic necessities. Still, that isn't acceptable for a three-star hotel, and I don't understand how it keeps that rating. At most, it deserves two stars with indulgence. The staff at reception were nice too, and the location is close to the historical city center, oceanographic, and beaches. The price seemed good at first, but later I understood why.

The breakfast has a good variety, and it's a clean, pleasant hotel with friendly staff. The city center is about a 30-minute walk away, or just three minutes on foot to several bus stops.
