The location was really convenient, with easy parking, trails for hikes and bike rides nearby, and Ezcaray just 4 minutes away for restaurants and activities. The room was perfect, and the owners, Jon and his wife, went above and beyond to make me comfortable. They didn’t charge for my dog because she was “well educated.” Daily cleaning was thorough, right down to vacuuming her bed. Breakfast was homemade and felt like 5-star service, with a different menu of sweet and savory options each day, all 100% homemade. I could eat inside or in the hotel’s lovely garden.

We had a beautiful setting and a very comfortable house. Jon was a wonderful host and took care of all our needs. Breakfast in the garden was delicious, with spectacular views of the mountains. I’ll definitely be back!

La Casona del Pastor has incredible ambience, and the host is even more incredible. For a mountain stay, I can’t imagine finding a better place. There’s plenty to do near Valgañon in every season, from Michelin Star restaurants and snow skiing to breathtaking hikes in the surrounding mountains. Hands down my favorite weekend escape.
