El Capricho de la Portuguesa

Orange trees, hiking, a spa, animals, local restaurants, a fireplace, and a safe atmosphere, all just a car ride from bigger cities and the beach. What more could you ask for? The town is lovely, and the people are warm-hearted. The owners put their whole hearts into the hotel and their community. This is the most unique boutique hotel I’ve ever seen, a place for a good night’s sleep, comfort, and relaxation. I felt at home, and even more than that. I can’t praise and recommend it enough, and hope I can return soon. Thank you so much, Werner & Lisa, for welcoming us.

We took the package with spa, tapas, and Cava, and had a great time playing pool with wine and tapas before enjoying the spa with Cava. The spa is private, so we didn’t have to share the Jacuzzi. We spent one night in the King Room, which was spacious, with a big comfortable bed and a good shower. The hotel’s warm design and the hosts made us feel at home. Thanks so much for the experience. We’ll definitely come back.

The service was splendid, and the old house has been completely refurbished while keeping its original style throughout. But that old style has been taken too far, leaving the rooms, beds, and bathrooms cold. My partner and I stayed for one night as a Christmas present and booked the spa and dinner. The spa looked good and was private, which we appreciated, but it was cold, and even the “hot” water was only lukewarm. The dining room was cold too, and they had to turn on a heater and air conditioning. Neither of us slept well: the room stayed cold, the water heaters barely worked, and even with the A/C set to 30°C, it only ran for a few minutes each hour. Maybe it would have been more pleasant in late spring. To the owners’ credit, we were there on one of the coldest weekends in recent months, but the appeal of places like this is that when it’s cold outside, you can be warm and cozy indoors. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We had an amazing stay in a beautiful hotel with five star facilities. Lisa and Werner are a lovely, friendly couple, and nothing was too much trouble.
