Hotel Roma

Bedbugs in the room. Run away! The hostel’s only advantage is that it’s in the center. Parking was always full, so we had to use another lot farther away. The staff weren’t very welcoming and barely spoke English. The room was old, and my bed had bedbugs. We only noticed on the second night. They moved us to another hostel, far away, at midnight, and we had to pay for the taxi. They refused to refund us for the two nights. We had to leave the room very quickly and forgot headphones there. Strangely, they couldn’t find them. I also had to buy new pajamas because I didn’t want to wear the ones I’d had on when I was bitten. We paid €100 for two nights, plus new headphones and pajamas, and then had to clean everything very carefully when we got home. If you’ve stayed there, I suggest checking all your luggage and clothes because you could be infested. If you’re planning to go, don’t. We checked, and the hostel is old with lots of places where bedbugs could hide. I’m pretty sure they didn’t close it for treatment, which would mean the bedbugs are still there. The mattresses aren’t covered, either, as you can see, which is good for bedbugs.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Its design could be better: getting into the bathroom is awkward, and there’s very little drawer space. The safe didn’t work. The hotel is in the town center.

The facilities are nice, and I’d recommend it. The location is good, and even with a concert just behind the hostel in Plaza Mayor, noise wasn’t a problem for me. The price is fair, though breakfast could be improved.

Restaurants are only a street away, and shops are just around the corner. The hotel street stays very quiet, so don't worry about the location. It's old-fashioned, but has everything you need and sits right in the center.
