The quiet setting was a great start to our motorbike tour after arriving on the Santander ferry. My brother-in-law and I had a spacious room with a large bathroom, and the main house where dinner and breakfast are served is stunning. The food was second to none, though you need to book it before your trip. There’s a little chapel to visit and plenty of places to walk and explore. It’s very isolated, with no bar or restaurant in sight, so it may be worth picking up a few beers or some wine at the local cafe a few miles down the main road before you arrive. Our host spoke good English and was happy to chat with me despite my limited Spanish. We’ll definitely go back.

The valley was beautiful, with flowering trees, lots of wildflowers, nearby walking paths, and up to four cuckoos at a time. Our hosts were warm and friendly, treating the guests like friends, and the meals were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would love to return. P.S. Go to Burgos and see its cathedral. The Merindades area around Burgos is beautiful, and the little village is charming. I stayed in autumn, but this country hotel would be lovely any time of year. The owners were very friendly and breakfast was exquisite. I’d love to come back.

Javier and Isabel are delightful, and the service feels warm and welcoming. The hotel sits in a lovely natural setting, a peaceful little paradise where it’s easy to get away from everything. I’ve already been twice, and I’m sure it won’t be my last visit.

For relaxing, being close to nature, and getting away from all the mental and sensory noise, Hoyel Rural would be hard to beat. The owners are welcoming and very friendly, and breakfast is delicious, with local products. Cherry trees and forests surround you, and places with spectacular hiking trails are nearby.
