The solomillo de cerdo was the highlight: really tender, cooked just right, and a little pink inside, which I like. The chicken was mostly fine, but the skin was burnt and pretty much inedible. We were hungry after a long hike and had already waited a while, so we didn't send it back. We first found the restaurant closed on Monday, with no notice on the website and no opening hours that we could see on the building. When we returned Tuesday it was open. I don't know whether Mondays are always closed or if it was just that day.

We had a great time here, and the waiter was so kind and attentive. We didn't speak the same language, but he understood what we wanted. The food was tasty, good quality, and reasonably priced. I was especially glad to try Barraquito coffee here, and my partner's cappuccino was great too. Our best restaurant experience on La Gomera. Thanks to the staff for a lovely evening! ❤️

A cozy, tasty meal in a family-run place. The beef was a huge 1kg steak, and it felt like a world-class steak for about the price of one meal at McDonald's.

We liked it so much that we made it our base and extended our stay. Jòse was the reason: my favourite man there, so kind, friendly, and helpful. He didn't speak English and we didn't speak Spanish, but we still understood each other really well. It's a lovely place in a tiny village, good for settling in to relax or rest overnight before carrying on with a hike. The people are lovely, and I highly recommend it.

I felt unsafe here as a woman travelling alone with my small, well-trained dog. I always check whether dogs are allowed before going to a restaurant. The Amparo website says they are welcome, and I checked again when I arrived. The waiter, who spoke only Spanish, confirmed it was okay through a translator app, though he already seemed impatient and agitated with me. I sat at the end of the verandah, away from the main room, and checked that the other guests were comfortable with my dog beside me. When I ordered through the app, I asked if it was okay to use a bowl for my dog. I guess the waiter misunderstood, but he said yes. After my food and drink arrived, I put some food for my dog in a bowl before starting my meal. The waiter rushed over shouting at me. Another guest had to explain in English that he was angry because the dog was eating from the bowl. I apologized, took the dog's food away, and gave the bowl back. I apologized several more times, but he kept shouting, pointing at me, and going in and out while using Spanish swear words. A guest explained that the waiter wanted me to leave, so I got up as soon as I understood. I didn't want trouble. He continued shouting and following me as I tried to leave through the main room. A woman who I took to be an owner stopped me; I thought she wanted an apology, but she spoke angrily to me in Spanish. I understood that she wanted me to pay for everything. I said I'd pay for the drink to calm things down, but I hadn't been allowed to eat the food, and nobody offered to pack it so I could take it with me. The waiter and the woman laughed at me. By then I was crying and arguing with them through the translator app, and was ready to call the police. Another guest hurried over and helped me leave. Without her and her husband, I think the waiter and the woman might have hurt me and my dog, and the police would have had to get involved. I felt they saw me as alone, unprotected, and vulnerable, and took advantage of that. Afterwards, I asked about them in the local community. Apparently the waiter has a bad reputation, including for drug use. The other employees must be his family; they seem to have nothing but disdain for foreigners, especially women travelling alone.
