B&B Hotel Tarragona Valls Hotel

I slept really well here. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, and the shower had enough hot water and pressure, though the showerhead in my room seemed a little faulty and the flow came out unevenly. The room was a decent size and clean, even if the facilities felt a bit dated. Staff were welcoming, and parking was free. There’s no kettle in the room since free coffee and hot water are available in the lobby. In the nearby town, breakfast is reasonably priced, and there’s a McDonald’s too, though it doesn’t open until after 11 a.m. For the price, I was very happy with the comfort and sleep.

The rooms were spacious and well kept, with comfortable beds, good lighting, air conditioning, private bathrooms, large TVs, a mini fridge and a safe. It was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep after work, and the WiFi is free and high speed throughout. The hotel is handy for the main roads and nearby factories, so it suits a work trip or a drive through the area, though the industrial surroundings aren't very scenic. Breakfast is a buffet with pastries, cold cuts, fruit and cereals. Coffee and tea are available free all day and night, although the coffee could be better. The staff were helpful, and the automatic reception runs 24 hours, which is useful if you arrive late. There’s secure parking, electric car charging and the hotel welcomes pets. Valls' historic center is about a 15-minute walk away, with local food and culture to explore in your spare time. The industrial location won't suit everyone, but it worked well for a practical stay.

The only issue for me was the heavy fragrance in the shared spaces and corridors. I have asthma, so that was difficult, although I could open the room window to air it out. Otherwise, a very quiet hotel and excellent across the board.

The pet charge was shockingly high, and for the price the place didn't feel worth it. Our room smelled, and it kept getting hotter through the night even though it was cold outside. The beds weren't very comfortable either. At reception, the woman couldn't say whether the tap water was safe to drink, which seemed odd.
