The host even followed me on his bike to bring back the jacket I’d left behind. He’s one of my Camino angels. Earlier, though I knew the place wasn’t open, I stopped to ask about coffee and a toilet. He kindly opened the reception room, gave us a one-euro machine coffee, and let me use an extremely clean toilet. I sat in the sunny courtyard, breathing the fresh November air and taking in the surroundings. It was a beautiful, unexpected moment. I’m walking the Camino to get through a crisis, and that kindness made me feel happy. Thank you again for sharing a little piece of happiness and paradise.

The cold stream is great for soaking your feet, and there’s cold beer too. You can barbecue or use the well-equipped kitchen, and there’s a nearby mercado with local food. Buy a steak! It’s a well-planned, comfortable albergue with plenty of room to relax, and it felt like an oasis of kindness and hospitality on hot days. Clean and quiet, with a Western theme.

A calm atmosphere inside and around the house, and the rooms and bathrooms are warm, cozy, and very clean. One of the nicest albergues on the Camino Frances. A wonderful place to recover after a long walk.

I came back because the memories from my first Camino, six years ago when they opened, made me plan a return visit. Maria and Lalo have kept the place immaculate and just as it was when it opened. They’re still kind-hearted, and now they’re fluent in English. Maria showed me her garden while Lalo got my e-bike charging. Their family sometimes came by to spend time there and invited pilgrims to join them. The huge kitchen is clean and has lots of dishes. The atmosphere hasn’t changed, and the nearby river, cowbells, and mountain views are lovely. This is the last large, well-equipped albergue before the big climb at O'cebreiro. Don’t miss a chance to visit Maria and Lalo. If you go after reading this, tell them Stephanie from New York says hello.

The supermarket is almost opposite, and the kitchen has facilities we used to make our best evening meal since leaving SSJP. Marie, the manager, even supplied all the oil and seasoning we needed. The albergue is very clean, and the family who run it are kind and helpful. They’ll let you camp on the extended land overnight if that’s your thing. An excellent Camino stop for the night. Thanks very much 😀
