If you’re looking for a place to arrive, wash, sleep, and head out again, this clean, tidy pension works well. There’s a shared area with a bench for reading or writing, though the rooms are tiny. Ours seemed no more than 8.5 sqm, with just a bed, a low luggage rack, and a small washbasin. It’s well positioned as a stop before O Cebreiro, and close to the village’s excellent restaurant, which is a real reason to stay here if it’s your only chance to try it. The hot water in one of the two shared showers seems to run along the same pipe as the other, so one person’s hot shower can mean a cold rinse for the next. Very clean and neat, but really small rooms.

Maria was a wonderful host, and the pension was sparkling clean. It’s right by a river where you can have lunch and swim in the cold mountain water. It felt refreshing and helped with the aches and pains. One of my favorite Camino stays. Thanks, Maria, for a lovely visit and a perfect breakfast to start the morning.

Such a welcoming, friendly host, and a wonderful place to stay. The bathrooms were spotless, and the self-serve breakfast was good and affordable.

Vega de Valcarce has a special place in my heart now. I spent a few nights at this albergue while walking the Camino Francés, after a bad foot left me needing somewhere to rest and recover so I could continue to Santiago. There were no private rooms available at first, so I stayed in the albergue for a few nights, then moved to a lovely private room upstairs with an incredible view. The hospitalieras were so kind and supportive throughout, and went above and beyond to help me heal. Their warmth meant a lot at a difficult time. This place and the amazing women who run it were a real gem on my Camino. Thank you for everything.

Maria is the kindest Albergue owner I’ve met so far. When she heard I was looking for paella, she called and reserved a table at a restaurant she recommended, and I had a great meal afterward. The room was clean and huge. I’d definitely recommend this place to any pilgrim looking for a good rest or a nice time.
