Maroa Hotel

The room was large, bright and clean, and the front desk staff were keen to help. The street noise was the downside. It came from people partying at the sidewalk cafes rather than traffic, then restaurant workers clearing up and shifting tables. Even with earplugs, we were woken several times early Sunday morning. It didn’t seem to quiet down until around 6:00 AM.

After a tiring day on my Camino, it was a relief that the team, especially Yolanda and Pablo at Reception, let us bring our muddy bikes inside and arranged storage for them. They were friendly and helpful. The modern hotel was comfortable, with a fantastic harbour view and a great location for the price. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was good, with fresh fruit and a wide choice of breads, jams, meat, cheese and cereal, plus eggs cooked to order. I highly recommend Maroa Hotel in Vigo.

The rooftop bar has a beautiful view, but the service there was absolutely terrible. The hotel is very central, though getting the air conditioning going was a problem. Guests have to request it after arriving, and the employees didn’t know how to activate it in the rooms.

I got lucky when I stopped in the lobby to ask for help and met Yolanda. She spoke excellent English and gave me clear directions, along with translation help. I travel often, and I’ll remember this hotel and recommend it in the future.
