Hotel Raval de la Mar

We were out travelling each day for a week, and it was lovely to come back to such a comfortable hotel. The staff, accommodation, and breakfasts all deserve praise. Thanks to everyone there for making such a difference.

Check-in was quick and easy, and the room had plenty of space, but the bed wasn’t very comfortable. The mattress seemed rounded instead of flat, and I could feel the metal springs. The air conditioning made odd noises now and then, luckily not at night. Breakfast was totally fine. Free parking is about a five-minute walk away.

The reservation mistake really put a dent in the stay. I’d booked and paid for a larger room with a terrace, but got a smaller room without one and no refund. Someone else might be furious about being charged the same for less, though I’m generally positive and not easily annoyed, so the stay was still pleasant overall. The hotel itself is modern and fairly new, and the staff were generally quite nice. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the WiFi was okay, though not the best. Parking is available in the garage under the hotel for an extra charge. If you’re driving, it’s a must, since there’s nowhere nearby to park without it. The room I had wasn’t very large, and its bathroom layout was strange: only the toilet area could be closed off, while the rest was open to the room. That was okay since I was staying alone.

The rooftop terrace was very nice, but the parking you pay for is extremely narrow. You can try parking on the street in town, though you may have to leave the car quite a distance away. The room didn’t seem properly clean, which is disappointing for a four-star hotel. The air conditioning was uncomfortable too. Even set to 21 degrees, it blew very cold air, so we had to switch it off altogether. Breakfast tasted good but was repetitive, and some choices may already be gone if you arrive late, with no refill.
